On Sunday the 18th of April, Eire Og under 21 hurlers overcame the hot favourites, Sixmilebridge. Many of the pundits had forecasted Sixmilebridge to win, but Eire Og recorded an Historic victory in Cusack Park by 0-15 to 1-11.

Sixmilebridge led by 1-5 to no score after 10 minutes. Not to be overshadowed, a brilliant display by the backs held firm to start Eire Og on a winning curve and dominate the game therein. Eire Og's first point came after 20 minutes, scored by David O'Halloran, who was to score a total of 13 points in the game.

Every member of the panel showed courage, discipline and strength to fight back in a game that could have gone either way, with Sixmilebridge leading 1-6 to 0-5 at half time. Spurred on by the management team, they dominated the majority of the second half with a strong period of unanswered points and achieved a well deserved victory and their place in Eire Og's history.

The cup was accepted by the captain, Kevin Brennan, who gave a gracious speech, thanking all involved and acknowledging Sixmilebridge as worthy apponents.

The celebrations lasted long into the night in Eire Og Clubhouse, where they were greeted by the people of the town who joined in the festivities and fun.

Well Done Lads, your hard work and outstanding talent won the day for you and Eire Og.

At a sad gathering of club members on Easter Sunday evening, a presentation of an Eire Og jersey was made to the Glynn family.
Michael "Hooper" Glynn wore the Red and White of the club with great pride and in many battles. His father, Christy, will be remembered as a former club stalworth and club chairman.
Michael died in a fire at his home in New Jersey, as did his wife Heather and their young daughter Tara. Funeral Mass took place on Easter Monday and burial afterwards in Drumcliff. A Guard of Honour was provided at the Church By former team-mates and members of Eire Og Inis.
In memory of Michael and his family, a substantial contribution was made by the Glynn family to the development of under-age players at the club.
